Shaynie Zieba

Director and Principal Teacher

Shaynie is a registered Royal Academy of Dance teacher and mentor who began teaching to share her joy and love of dance with the next generation of students. During her 20 years of teaching her students have won many championships and scholarships, they have been finalists at the Isobel Anderson awards, accepted into the Australian Ballet School interstate program, secured ongoing promotional work and secured overseas contracts with Ballet companies. Many students have selected to also teach dance. She specialises in the training and coaching of students undertaking Royal Academy of Dance Graded and Vocational Graded examinations and their preparation prior to auditions for finishing schools and company placement. Shaynie also teaches Contemporary, Lyrical, National Character and Jazz.

Shaynie has choreographed many items for regional dance festivals, Rock Eisteddfod RAW division and various Eisteddfods with Great success.

As a student Shaynie very successfully competed in various Eisteddfods winning many Championships and Scholarships. She also won RAD Seminar scholarships for 6 years consecutively and was awarded the Hope Keelan Seminar Award. In addition to her training in the Illawarra Shaynie was coached by Marilyn Jones, John Byrne, Valerie Bayley and Leslie Whitehead to name a few.

Candice Morgan-Jorgenson is a talented and experienced jazz teacher at Dance World. She began her dance journey with us in 1995, studying jazz, ballet, and tap. With over two decades of experience in the dance industry, Candice brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her classes.

As a mother of four, she understands the importance of keeping kids active and engaged, which is reflected in her fun and upbeat choreography. In addition to her love for dance, Candice is also a fitness enthusiast and enjoys spending time at the beach and playing soccer. Her dedication to her students is evident in the continued success of her jazz troupes at eisteddfods.

Candice is a valuable member of our Dance World family and we are lucky to have her as a teacher.



REBECCA VIRTU - TAP TEACHER

Rebecca Virtu

Tap Teacher

Rebecca Virtu is our highly experienced and talented tap teacher at Dance World. She has been a part of our dance community since the young age of 3 and has never looked back.

She is a graduate of Brent Street Studios in Sydney and has honed her skills in tap, jazz and musical theatre. Her passion for dance has led her to perform in a variety of shows such as Mama Mia, Singing in the Rain, The Producers, 42nd Street, Cats, Oliver, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Forbidden Broadway, La Cage Aux Folles and Jerry's Girls.

In addition to her dance skills, Rebecca is also a qualified fitness instructor at F45 and has won the City of Wollongong Eistedfodd Tap Scholarship in 2011 and the City fo Wollongong Theatrical Scholarship in 2013.

Rebecca's passion for dance and fitness is evident in her teaching style and she loves nothing more than sharing her knowledge and experience with her students.

Doug Newton

Latin and Ballroom freelance teacher

Doug started dancing Ballroom and Latin at 10 years of age. He became an Australian Junior, Amateur and Professional Champion. Doug represented Australia in many competitions obtaining 5th place in the World Amateur Latin Championship.

He lived in London for eight years while dancing the world circuit. During this time he also worked as a choreographer for the BBC and independent film companies. 

Doug was the director of the Illawarra Drama School. He has extensive theatrical knowledge and experience having produced plays for both children and adults as well as the annual Dance World Revue.

Doug teaches Ballroom and Latin to children and adults. He is actively involved with Dancesport Australia as an examiner and a judge at national and international levels.
